Don't get me wrong I LOVE being a mother, I really do, it's just sometimes I feel that I am only a mother and not Tara. I know I cannot be the only one out there that feels this way. For the past 6 years of my life I have either been pregnant or nursing a baby. I also have not had more than 3 periods in that time (TMI, but hey, that's a high point of my life). Now that my youngest is a year old, I can finally feel confident to leave him with someone for more than an hour or two. Now all I have to do is find stuff to do, right? Easier said than done.
Now onto the #mombod issues we all face. I am struggling with these last 12 pounds or so. Now, I know to officially be able to complain about it I actually have to go and workout and not see results- buzz kill. So instead of complaining, I will ask you what you have found that helps shed those last few pounds without having to practically starve myself or eat apple sauce for two weeks? I recently tried this "magic drink" of grapefruit juice, apple cider vinegar and honey. I would love to tell you that after drinking this magical concoction I shed those last few unwanted pounds. Instead, I about threw up all over my son as he watched with bug eyes in disbelief. I like to think of it as pay back for all the times he spit up on me. I think eventually I will have to suck it up and join a gym, but who really has time for all that craziness? Another alternative, is strapping my youngest on my back while I chase my older boys around the house. That way I can get a good sweat in, while still playing with them. Win, win in my book. Seriously ladies, let me know what works for you. I am open to just about anything.
Now to shamelessly show off my handsome boys. I may just be Mom now, but I am dang lucky to be theirs. Fun fact about my two oldest: They share the same birthday but are 2 years apart. No it was not planned but I love it!

What my logo means to me
When I started this adventure, I designed my logo in Photoshop. It was black and gold; simply put, boring. There was a part of me in it with the black
and gold, Geaux Saints, but the logo
itself was not sexy as my husband
would say. A year ago, I decided to take
his advice and hire someone to revamp my logo.
I knew I wanted it to be classic and clean. I knew that my logo not only needed to
represent me, but my home. I wanted to
stick to my Southern roots and chose to have a Fleur de Lis as a part of the
design. When I look at my logo now, it
reminds me of walking the French Quarter in New Orleans (Nawlins for your
locals). It reminds me of the sound of
tap dancing on the streets or a saxophone playing in Jackson Square. It reminds me of the rich jazz history that
surrounds you when you walk the cobble stone streets. It also reminds me of all the devastating
events that have happened to my home state.
All the hurricanes year after year and most recently the extreme flooding
that has swept my hometown. This is what
my logo means to me. I may have moved to
another state, but Louisiana and all her beauty will forever be my home.

Why I decided to extend our return policy
I can honestly say that I have not shopped in a mall for over 5 years. I am not sure if it's just the hassle of getting dressed, finding a parking spot, walking to the store and then waiting in line to either try on the clothes or check out. Draining, right?
I wanted to make sure that every woman who
comes to Tara Lynn's, feels comfortable with their buying experience. So I decided that giving you a full 30 days
from the date delivered to try it on, see if you love it and then return it
if not, would be something that I would want as a customer.
It's the little things that make life easier. Have an idea to make Tara Lynn's a better
company? I would love to hear it.

Motherhood and Fashion: The Struggles and Battles
Let's face it, if we get out of the house with two matching shoes, we are doing good most of the time. Being a mother and being in fashion, do not always go hand and hand. It does not have to be that way though! Here are some simple tips that I have found worked for me.
1) Plan ahead. I remember setting out my outfit the night before, so I did not have to wake up 30 minutes early, back in my school days. The same idea applies here. If you know what you are going to wear ahead of time, it will be quicker to throw it on and get out the door.
2) Allow time to get ready. I have to get dressed 1.5 hours before we even plan on leaving. Sadly, sometimes I am still running out the door some of the times, but trust me, this helps. You know you will have a million, "mom's" sang at you during this 1.5 hours, so plan ahead and hopefully you can get it done in time.
3) Choose your battles. Unless we are going to church (and sometimes even then) I let them choose what they want to wear. Batman shirt, basketball shorts and cowboy boots, why the heck not? Any mother/father that sees your child will know they chose their own outfit. If they do not have children and look at you funny, give them ___ years until they have their own child. They will remember that moment, and think, "I take back all the mean things I said about other parents".
4) Do not compare. It's hard in today's day and age, where you can follow (OK, stalk) celebrities or bloggers literally all day. They all seem to have the perfect life, the perfect outfit, the perfect children. Sighs. Remember, that they are women, just like you and me. They have bad moment and only blog about the good ones. They get PAID to look good and put on a good front. They are NOT you. Be happy with who you are, you are good enough. Trust me, your children do not care if your face lands on the front page of Vogue. They just want a loving mother who is there for them. You do not have to spend millions of dollars to buy their happiness. Just show up and be there. Trust me, it will always be more than enough.
Above all else, just be yourself and love. Your children will remember the time you spent with them more than anything. I am sure all of you wonderful mothers have plenty of other tips as well. Please share them in the comments so we can all learn from each other.

How to layer bracelets
Layering bracelets is truly an art, requiring a bit of trial and error before you achieve the perfect mix of colors, sizes and metal finishes. I love this eclectic way of styling jewelry and am constantly inspired by the fantastic combinations pinned on Pinterest.
However, like I alluded to above, choosing the right arrangement of bracelets can be tricky. Here are some tips to avoid a bracelet layering fail.
Smaller and fewer are better: One of the hardest parts of layering is deciding when you have added enough pieces. Avoiding chunky bracelets and keeping the number of pieces to a minimum (depending on the size, 6-8 is a good number), will keep you from looking like you’re wearing armor.
Add a watch: Including a timepiece adds practicality to the collection of jewelry, as well as another shape and texture. I think it is always good practice to mix high- and low-end pieces of jewelry when accessorizing, and a pricey watch can help make cheaper layering pieces appear more expensive by association.
I think the best layering chick out there is Andrea, hands down. You can check out her instagram page to see how she layers different bracelets of all shapes and sizes.
What do you think of the layered bracelet trend? Incredibly chic or just plain cluttered?

You're going on vaction, now what?
Earlier we talked about what to wear when you travel and touched on a few tips when packing. Here you will find a visual of how to actually pack your carry on and other tips. I refuse to check a bag now, unless it is absolutely necessary. I am already pushing a stroller through the airport and checking 3 car seats at the kiosk. Lucky for us moms, we do not have to pay extra for strollers and car seats.
Tip number one: Pack carefully and smart. You can get your clothes and your children's in one carry on if done correctly.
When I pack, I pack smart and light. I bring one pair of jeans that will match most, if not all, my tops. I only bring 2-3 pairs of shoes, max. Since I will normally bring tennis shoes for walking, those are the shoes I opt to wear on my travel days. If you have not tried rolling your clothes, then you are missing out on a lot of extra space ladies. You can roll your items separate or put your whole outfit planned and roll it up together. Here is an example. I usually like to put my shoes in a plastic bag though, to make sure my clothes do not get dirty.
Tip number two: if they have an outside curb service for your airline, USE IT. I always bring an extra $5 with me and tip the gentleman that has helped.
I cannot even begin to tell you the hours I have saved by dropping off car seats at curbside and then heading to the security line. I personally take my stroller with me, that way I do not have to carry around my littles. I even borrowed one of these bad boys from a friend once (pictured below). You can put one car seat in it, which is great if you have one child and only one of you are traveling. I checked it outside at curb service, but you can carry it with you or roll it, that way it will not get as beaten up. They will just check it at the plane and you can grab it again when you land. I have even put my car seats in huge lawn trash bags. I opted for the thick ones, so they would last through the beatings they get when handled by airports. If I use trash bags, I check it outside at the kiosk.
Tip three: If they offer direct flights, take it!
It may cost a little more but the less you have to travel with little ones, the better. I have learned this lesson the hard way when traveling back home to see family. After three hours (five if you count getting there early to get through security) they have had it. It was well worth the extra $50 -$100 in the long run.
Tip four: If you are flying with little children and this is your first rodeo, read this post.
It's hard enough to remember everything you need on your trip, let alone what you might need to keep your little ones comfortable. I have found that this blog post covers pretty much anything you will need to know when you venture out.
Tip five: Breathe and HAVE FUN!
I get it, traveling is stressful! Just remember at the end of the day it is YOU that determines the outcome. After you travel a few times with your children, you will become a pro.
